The building in Köln-Kalk is situated opposite the town hall designed by Gottfried Böhm, the chapel of Rudolf Schwarz and the parish church. These buildings dominate the urban environment and form in union with the new structure a centre for Kalk with an urban character.

The building is subdivided in different parts, which develop from a shared base. The houses in the front, consisting of brick, and the ones facing the garden with facades of metal and plaster are connected by hallways. The vertical transportation is situated in open courtyards. Public, semi-public and private areas are defined by the open transportation system. The building combines working and living in a vital and appealing way.
