The building is integrated in the existing structure of the site of the former barracks Schiffsbauergasse. The expressive architecture of the theatre evolves from this structure. The shells are the main characteristics of the significant and formative building, which gives importance to its surroundings and forms an iconic image for Potsdam.
The foyer is covered by the lowest shell and forms a pleasant place in interaction with the surrounding landscape. The higher shells shape an appealing theatre hall, which can be illuminated by daylight if required
